Hong Kong is a metropolis in which many people live and work on a small area. The limited space available has a unique advantage: Inhabitants and visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the skyline from the roofs and panorama terraces. We would like to introduce five of the most beautiful places here.
1. Das Harlan’s @ the One
The Harlan’s is a place to be visited because of its breath-taking views. The restaurant offers upscale Mediterranean cuisine with home-made pasta, stone-baked pizza, fish, seafood, steaks and salads. Places are available inside and outside. Reservation is highly recommended.
Harlan‘ @ the One. Address: Level 19, The ONE, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
Well, Spasso is one of our explicit favourite restaurants in Hong Kong. Its cuisine is basic Italian with high-quality ingredients, home-made pasta and a delicious fish soup (no, we are not the kind of people who think that one has to eat only Asian food in Asia … all the more so as there are really not too many restaurants with Chinese cuisine with places for sitting outside). Besides that, the Spasso, the outside area of which is on a publicly accessible terrace, is equipped with beautiful lounge chairs: they are wonderfully suited for a cool glass of white wine after some shopping at Muji, which is a must.
Spasso. Address: Shop 403, Level 4, Ocean Centre, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
Situated in Central Hong Kong, the restaurant has a beautiful terrace, which we found to be very suitable for having a nice cup of tea after a small shopping tour in the afternoon.
Sevva. Address: Prince’s Building 25th Floor, 10 Chater Road, Central, Hong Kong
4. Sugar Bar
The Sugar Bar is located a little off-centre, but it is easy and quickly to be reached by MTR. And the effort is worth it, particularly for a sun downer with a view from the 32nd floor. In addition to different cocktails the menu offers a broad variety of wines served by the glass at moderate prices and also excellent finger food which might as well serve as an early supper.
Sugar Bar. Address: 32/East, 29 Taikoo Shing Road, Island East, Hong Kong
5. Café Gray

Café Gray on the 49th floor is the restaurant of the meanwhile very popular and absolutely recommendable Hotel Upper House (review will follow). We went there for high tea, and I must say that the little morsels served for tea, such as scones with cream and home-made strawberry jam were so delicious that I would have liked to eat three times as many. Very noble! Check it out! Tables are only inside; there is no outside restaurant area.
