Horse Racing in Hong Kong

Happy Valley Race course

If you are in Hong Kong on a Wednesday during racing season (September to July) you should do one of the things the locals do. Go to Happy Valley and watch Horse racing. Hong Kongers are obsessed with Horse racing and betting. On one of our last trips to the city we finally went to see what is was all about. We had great fun watching the races and the people although we are not exactly very knowledgeable about the sport.

The basic admission price is HK$10, which is for standing-room only. Or better yet, you can watch from the more exclusive Hong Kong Jockey Club members‘ enclosure by purchasing a temporary „member’s badge“ for HK$100 showing your passport at the main entrance to the Members‘ Private Enclosure at Happy Valley.
